Creighton - O'Neill - Newendyke - 2017

Riley

Riley is in the middle of her second year of college ... she spent the fall at University of Arizona, but is excited to be starting at Arizona State University this spring (we're excited she'll be closer to home, too). She is majoring in political science with a minor in nutrition, and she's happy to get to get her old job back at Garcia's. Her favorite concert of the year was The 1975, which she saw at Tucson Music Hall in April.

Lexi

Lexi started her second year at Northern Arizona University. She is still majoring in social work and minoring in sociology, and this fall she started working at a call center on campus. She is also still singing in the NAU Women's Chorale, which was selected to sing at the American Choral Directors Association Western Regional Conference in Pasadena in March. Her favorite concert of 2017 was The Mowgli's, which she saw at 191 Toole in Tucson with her boyfriend, Allen.

Noah

Noah is a senior at Hamilton HS, and is still really into running. The highlight of his year was definitely running on the Hamilton 4x800 relay team, which won the state championship in May (he also qualified for the state cross country meet in November). He's not sure where he's going to college yet, but he wants to be a high school teacher/coach, and he did have official visits in October at Wartburg College (Waverly, Iowa) and Seattle University, where he got to visit Uncle Jeremy. He is already participating in track practice, and is looking forward to starting the season in the spring. He didn't go to any concerts this year, but has enjoyed learning songs (on his own!) on the piano.

Haley

Haley is a senior at Hamilton HS, and is still working for the Kids Express after school program. She is all set to attend Northern Arizona University in the fall, probably majoring in something related to political science. She is part of Hamilton's We The People competition team, which recently won their district/regional competition ... if they win the state competition (which they did last year) she'll get to go to DC this spring. She had an amazing trip to the East Coast (Boston, Philadelphia, New York and DC) this last spring. Her favorite concert this year was the Lost Lake Festival, and her favorite band there was The Killers.

Shea

Shea is a senior at Corona del Sol HS, and is planning on going to Northern Arizona University in the fall (possibly majoring in business). Even though she's not dancing at school any more, she's still taking four dance classes per week at Desert Star Dance and is excited to get to do a senior solo dance at her final recital in June. She's still hostessing at Garcia's, and hangs out with her boyfriend, Mat. She is really disappointed that she's only been to 5 concerts this year, but when we made her pick a favorite, she said it was a toss up between seeing State Champs, Real Friends, or Shatterproof and Never Let This Go.

Samantha

Samantha is getting older and having a harder time getting up off the ground, but she still likes to go outside for some fresh air and a short walk. She loves belly rubs and dog treats, and her left ear is still floppy.

Shaun and Peg

Peg and Shaun made it through their first year of married life and are still pretty damn happy. Peg is still the media specialist at Santan JHS in Chandler, and Shaun is still an Intructional Technology Specialist in the Chandler Unified School District. They had a fantastic honeymoon in New Orleans in March, headed to Boston in July, and enjoyed an anniversary trip to Rocky Point with the kids and a bunch of friends. They're a little nervous about entering their "empty nest" phase in the fall, but are excited that a trip to Flagstaff will allow them to see three of the kids at once. They can't wait to close out 2017 in Rocky Point with all of the kids, as well as Nancy/Mom/Grammy, Jeremy, and Jacq, and they're also looking forward to taking all the kids to Disneyland in June (the first time we've all done that together) to celebrate high school graduations. They went to some great concerts this year, but their highlight was probably attending the first-ever Lost Lake Festival with Riley, Haley, and cousin Maddie (visiting from Boston!). Peg's favorite band at Lost Lake was Haim, while Shaun's was The Pixies (he wasn't at Lost Lake, but seeing Ben Folds in Tempe was pretty awesome, too).
